Bill Maher short Biography

On January 20, 1956, William Maher (born in New York City)[2) entered the world of show business as a comedian, actor, and political analyst. Since 2003, he has hosted Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO, as well as Politically Incorrect, a late-night show on Comedy Central, before moving to ABC in 2002. Maher began his podcast Club Random in 2022.

Politics and social commentary are two of Maher's specialties. Many topics, including religion, political correctness, and the mass media, are addressed by him.  Religious, a 2008 documentary film about his views on religion, was inspired by his writings. Peta has had him on its board since 1997. and he serves on the advisory board of Project Reason.  Marijuana should be legalized, and Maher is a member of NORML's advisory board. 

He was 38th on Comedy Central's list of the greatest stand-up comics of all time in 2005.A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was bestowed upon him on 14 September 2010.  When he served as Vice's executive producer, Maher was awarded a Primetime Emmy.

Early life and education

New York City is where Maher was born. His parents, William Aloysius Maher Jr., a network news editor and radio announcer, and Julie Maher (née Berman), a nurse, were both prominent figures in their professions when he was growing up.  He was raised in his father's Roman Catholic faith, which he inherited from his Irish American father. As a child, he had no idea that his mother's Hungarian family was Jewish. When Maher was thirteen, his father stopped taking him and his sister to Catholic church services because he disagreed with the church's doctrine on birth control. 

The River Vale, New Jersey, native attended Pascack Hills High School in Montvale, where he received his high school diploma in 1974.For his undergraduate work, he studied both English and history at Cornell University, where he earned a degree in 1978.There is no doubt that selling pot helped Maher get through college and begin his career as a stand-up comic.
