Emilia Clarke was called a 'dumpy girl’

Emilia Clarke was called a 'dumpy girl’ at the House of Dragon premiere, and we just despair..

Does anyone here know who Emilia Clarke is? Naturally, you have. What, then, would we say about the critically renowned actress, given what we know about her? Able to perform at a high level, perhaps due to talent? Maybe even rousingly motivating? You guessed it; that, too. But you know how it is: a woman does something remarkable by her own hard work and competence, and then a man comments on her as though she were nothing more than a sexual object. That's right. So that's what happened to Clarke, and all we can do is feel hopeless about it.

As reported by Crikey, the CEO of Australian television network Foxtel, Patrick Delany, made the remarks during the Sydney premiere of House of the Dragon, the prequel to HBO's Game of Thrones.
The new prequel series to "Game of Thrones" focuses on House Targaryen and the civil war and instability that break out after Viserys I Targaryen's reign when no clear line of succession develops.

Watch as opposing groups square off in the courtroom and on the battlefield. The new episode will focus on the ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen, one of the series' key protagonists. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), who lived 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, will not appear in House of the Dragon. Foxtel Group, on behalf of Mr. Delany, apologises if his comments were misconstrued and offended anyone.

There must be a more elegant way to put that, right? Perhaps something along the lines of, "For me, Games of Thrones was something extremely different for television in 2011, and that Emilia Clarke went from very unknown to one of the most recognised and most liked actors in television and film." There, we corrected the situation for you; wasn't that difficult?

Emilia has been so busy being a real badass and living her best life that she hasn't had time to respond to Patrick Delany's sexist remarks.
The Foxtel Group issued an apology to Crikey readers in a statement.

A fuller version of the statement reads as follows: "The intent was to express that for him, Games of Thrones was something extremely different for television in 2011, and that Emilia Clarke moved from being a relatively unknown to one of the most recognised and most adored actors in television and film.
